This picture reminds me somewhatof the cover of the Grateful Dead's Aoxomoxoa album or similar 60's art. Laid upon a psychic axis of symmetry, the skinny alien dude is transfixed on the central, whirling gizmo which could be a somewhat phallic chakra or a navigational device or something else. The Pleiedes star cluster is twice visible out the back (a well known home port of certain interstellar visitors).
